Do you ever feel like things are going great and then out of nowhere you get knocked down…or at least pushed a bit too hard that you lose your balance? Well, it has been that way for me lately. Let me share a bit, if you don’t mind.
I know I am the person who supports others with their respiratory health and many consider me an expert, yet there are times I still suffer from breathing issues. Just because I have figured out most people’s (including my own) triggers, doesn’t mean I have it all figured out (yet)!
Recently, I was travelling and while away, I began to wheeze terribly. I had no idea what the issue was, but ended up needing to take my least favourite medication to support me, prednisone. because my rescue inhaler was not enough.
I am still not sure as to what onset the wheezing; however, I am sure it had something to do with change in climate, humidity and even steady indoor temperatures while away (which is not the case in my home in Italy).
I say all that to say this - I am human, just like you. Just because this is my specialty, doesn’t mean I don’t still have things to learn. I may have a good handle on the respiratory issues I have and at the same time, it doesn’t mean I won’t ever have an issue again… even though that is my goal.
What do you do when you are doing great and then out of nowhere you take a hit to your breathing? How do you handle it? I’d love to hear what you do because we all have different experiences and sometimes, what works for one may work for many or just you.
